Public Outreach
Bankruptcy Judges and courts routinely engage in important public outreach efforts. Those efforts include financial literacy classes, pro bono assistance projects, Constitution and Citizenship Day events, naturalization ceremonies, bankruptcy law education for state court judges, and civics education programs.

Consumer Education and Training Services (CENTS) was co-founded in 1995 by Federal Bankruptcy Judge Karen A. Overstreet and leading members of the Washington bankruptcy bar. CENTS empowers people to improve their financial health by developing educational and legal resources to help them prevent or overcome financial challenges.
